About the Event
ISU European Figure Skating Championships will be held from 25th till 29th January 2017 in Ostrava Arena. For the eighth time, the event will be held in the Czech Republic, respectively former Czechoslovakia (Prague – 1999, 1988, 1948, 1937, 1934; Bratislava – 1966, 1958).
Undoubtedly, ISU European Figure Skating Championship 2017 will be the top sporting event of 2017 in the Moravian-Silesian Region and city of Ostrava and one of the top 2017 sporting events in the Czech Republic.
For the first time in history, the European Figure Skating Championships in the Czech Republic will be held outside the capital – it has been allocated to Ostrava with respect to the outstanding reputation and rich experience in organizing major sporting events with regard to city´s sports history.

Expected numbers of participants of European Figure Skating Championships 2017
- 170 athletes (men, women, pairs, ice dance) from 41 European federations
- 170 coaches
- 220 members of the teams and ISU officials
- 300 media representatives
- approx. 100 volunteers
- … which means about 1,000 participants altogether.
The extensive media coverage of the event via television, internet, radio, print media is expected. Around 800 hours of television broadcasting with worldwide coverage should be produced.
