Saturday Free Dance promises attractive performances and dramatic battles for the title, because there is only 1,2 points difference among first three pairs after short program. Italians Cappelini, Lanotte made the best short dance, but they additionally lost one point from referees because of incorrect lift. They fell on second place and followed Russian pair Bobrova, Soloviev. The third were defenders of European title Papadakis, Cizeron from France.
These three pairs stood on the podium in Bratislava last year and it seems they will not allow any other pair to reach medals positions. “We are happy with this performance and that we could challenge these amazing dancers. We are excited about it. We did some minor changes in the program and we have been experimenting with the costumes,” Anna Capellini commented their short program.
Other two pairs are aiming on gold medals. “The competition is not over yet. Figure skating has become so unpredictable now. We must fight. First of all, I want to point out that Katia (Bobrova) was so focused today, I saw her in her eyes and I felt calm right away. If she is nervous I am worried about her, because I just can try to say something to her to help her, but I cannot skate for her,” Dmitrij Solovjev said. His partner Ekaterina Bobrova added: “Sometimes I am more nervous. Today I felt really good and I will analyze how I approached the competition to remember how I did it.”
Although last year’s champions are currently on third place, they don’t give it up. Both of them admitted they did some minor mistakes. “It was a good performance despite some little mistakes, but it didn’t affect the overall performance too much. We enjoyed to skate here and also felt the audience with us,” said Guillaume Cizeron.
Czech pair Nicole Kuzmichova, Alexandr Sinicyn finished on 26th place. They both were satisfied and appreciated the atmosphere in the arena. “It was our first big event. We think we showed a nice performance and we are satisfied with our result. It was the best possible performance we were able to prepare in such a short time,” Alexandr Sinicyn commented their performance. His partner added: ” I felt big support from the Czech fans. We have never experienced such crowds at the competition in our career.”
